An Addition to the Widener Family

And it's not a baby ;)....Over the last month or so Josh and I had been talking about maybe looking into getting a cat for Atticus. Great Pyrenees are known to love cats and any time Atticus has the chance to be around one he just LOVES it! Plus we were hoping this would keep him company when we are away, thus detereing him from destroying our house. The only thing holding me back was the simple fact that it is a cat. I'm not a cat person, have never owned a cat, and have never understood why someone would want a creature that is so snotty and unpersonable.

So a few weeks ago I was looking online at PetFinder.com at different cats and quickly realized that since I knew nothing at cats, looking at a bunch of pictures of different kinds was going to do me no good. So I emailed the people we got Atticus from to ask them what kind of cats are good for Great Pyrenees. Well, not but 5 mins. later I walked outside to find a cat hiding in one of our bushes. Well of course Atticus went straight to it and wanted to kiss it. Now if you've seen Atticus you'd know that many humans are afraid of him because he's so big, let alone a lost cat. So they smell each other and the cat hisses and hides. So after a while I take Atticus inside where he proceeds to lay at the back door for an hour crying. Like I said, he loves cats! So of course this annoys the crap out of me, so we go back outside to see if it's still there and he is. So I get it some milk to see if maybe it's hungry and he wolfed it down. Clearly hadn't eaten in days. Then we head back inside. A few hours go by and I open the door to let Atticus out and as soon as I do the cat comes running inside. So my first thought is "what the heck do I do with this cat inside." Of course Atticus is loving it and following him every where. I go sit at my computer and figure I'd let them get aquainted. All of a sudden the cat jumped in my lap, curled into a ball, and fell asleep.

So I'm sure you've all figured it out by now, we now have a 9/10 month old baby cat named Boo. He's adjusted to the Widener house well. Now I have Atticus and Boo follow me all around the house. Boo oves to cuddle and loves to where ever we are. He is like no cat I've ever been around before. He still occasionally has moments where he plays a little too rough, but he is a kitten. I'm adjusting more each day to the idea of having a cat around the house. And of course Atticus is in heaven. They are buddies! More and more lately I'll find them together cuddling. So I guess as my mother-in-law put it, Josh and I manifested our cat. :) No but for real, I guess the Lord sent Atticus his own little buddy.

Here are some picts. This was when I first let him in and he fell asleep on my lap!

Atticus looks like he's found a treasure! This was the first few hours.

Boo was sweet to Atticus after his surgery and wanted to cuddle.

I found them like this on the couch yesterday, they were both asleep until I got the camera out!
